La Galleria Thomas Brambilla è lieta di presentare la terza mostra personale dell’artista italiano Erik Saglia (1989) intitolata Spaced Out che inaugurerà il 16 maggio 2026.
In mostra saranno esposte sette nuove opere in alluminio verniciato e LED che segnano una decisa evoluzione nel percorso dell’artista. Questi lavori si pongono in diretta continuità con la produzione pittorica precedente, preservando il contenuto formale e l’uso metodico della griglia modernista, già esplorati nella recente serie “Manifesti Satellite”. In questa nuova fase, Saglia non si limita a ribadire il rigore geometrico del passato, ma lo eleva attraverso l'integrazione della luce come materia costruttiva. La griglia, da perimetro organizzativo dell'immagine, si trasforma in un organismo vibrante: i pattern modulari evolvono in dispositivi capaci di irradiare luce e colore, mantenendo un’essenzialità strutturale dove la tecnologia diventa il prolungamento luminoso della forma.
La mostra si ispira al pensiero del filosofo hongkonghese Yuk Hui, il quale, attraverso i concetti di "cosmotecnica" e "tecnodiversità", invita a ripensare la tecnologia come uno strumento libero e poetico, capace di aprire il mondo ad infinite possibilità. Proprio in quest’ottica, il titolo "Spaced Out" evoca una spinta verso l’esterno, uno sconfinamento oltre i limiti della forma e della materia, verso una pluralità di visioni. Rielaborando le teorie di Hui, Saglia trasforma il LED da semplice componente industriale a elemento vitale e dinamico, capace di far “vibrare” la rigidità della griglia modernista e di proporre allo spettatore un orizzonte di infinite possibilità comunicative ispirando e radicandosi nella tradizione artistica novecentesca.
Se da un lato Dan Flavin viene ripreso nella sua capacità di trasformare l’ambiente circostante attraverso l’irradiazione cromatica e l’integrazione della luce all’interno della struttura stratificata dell’opera, dall’altro François Morellet viene evocato attraverso il rigore matematico e analitico, trasformando la griglia in un organismo pulsante e vivo. Tuttavia, il legame più evidente e profondo resta per Saglia il lavoro dell’americano Keith Sonnier che si manifesta in una leggerezza cromatica e formale unica. Il risultato finale del lavoro di Saglia trasforma il LED in un segno grafico dinamico in cui precisione formale ed energia luminosa si fondono in un’esperienza totale esattamente come in Sonnier stesso.
Erik Saglia (Torino, 1989) vive e lavora a Torino. Dopo essersi formato all’Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, dove si è diplomato nel 2014, ha sviluppato una pratica artistica fondata su un’approfondita ricerca sui materiali e sulle loro possibilità espressive, unita a una rigorosa artigianalità del gesto. Tutti i suoi lavori sono realizzati interamente a mano: dalla costruzione autonoma del telaio fino alla stratificazione finale delle superfici pittoriche. Nel corso della sua carriera Erik Saglia ha partecipato a numerose mostre collettive, tra cui Too Big or Not Too Big (Thomas Brambilla Gallery, 2013), Sphères (Galleria Continua, Les Moulins, Parigi, 2014), Face to Face (Palazzo Fruscione, 2016), Pittura Italiana Oggi (Triennale, Milano, 2023) e Luci d'Artista (Torino, 2024). Ha inoltre tenuto diverse mostre personali, tra cui SNIFFINGLUE (Thomas Brambilla Gallery, 2014 e 2016), A.E. Abstract Existence (BACO, 2015), Ceiling 1 (Tile Project, 2016), Pregenesi (Spazio Lancia, 2018), Una Tranquilla Apocalisse (Spazio Lampo, 2020) e una terza persona presso la galleria Thomas Brambilla nel 2026.

Thomas Brambilla Gallery is pleased to present Spaced Out, the third solo exhibition by Italian artist Erik Saglia (1989), opening on May 16, 2026.
The exhibition features seven new works in painted aluminum and LEDs that mark a significant evolution in the artist’s practice. These pieces exist in direct continuity with his previous paintings, preserving both the formal content and the methodical use of the modernist grid explored in his recent “Manifesti Satellite” series. In this new phase, Saglia does not merely reiterate the geometric rigor of his past work; he elevates it by integrating light as a constructive material. The grid shifts from a mere organizational perimeter into a vibrant organism: modular patterns evolve into devices capable of radiating light and color, maintaining a structural essentialism where technology becomes a luminous extension of form.
The exhibition draws inspiration from the thought of Hong Kong philosopher Yuk Hui, who, through his concepts of "cosmotechnics" and "technodiversity," invites us to rethink technology as a free, poetic tool capable of opening the world to infinite possibilities. In this light, the title Spaced Out evokes an outward impulse—a movement beyond the limits of form and matter toward a plurality of visions. By reworking Hui’s theories, Saglia transforms the LED from a simple industrial component into a vital, dynamic element. It allows the rigidity of the modernist grid to "vibrate," offering the viewer a horizon of infinite communicative possibilities while remaining deeply rooted in the artistic traditions of the twentieth century.
In Saglia’s work, Dan Flavin is echoed in his ability to transform the surrounding environment through chromatic irradiation and the integration of light within the stratified structure of the work; on the other, François Morellet is evoked through mathematical and analytical rigor, transforming the grid into a pulsating, living organism. However, the most evident and profound connection for Saglia remains the work of the American artist Keith Sonnier, which manifests in a unique chromatic and formal lightness. The final result of Saglia’s work transforms the LED into a dynamic graphic sign in which formal precision and luminous energy merge into a total experience, much like in Sonnier’s own work.
Erik Saglia (Turin, 1989) lives and works in Turin. After studying at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, where he graduated in 2014, he developed an artistic practice grounded in an in-depth investigation of materials and their expressive potential, combined with a rigorous craftsmanship of gesture. All of his works are entirely handmade, from the autonomous construction of the stretcher to the final stratification of the pictorial surface.
