WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS
”Sognare è rappresentare. L’Arte è rappresentazione. Chiunque sogna crea come un Artista.”

THE ART EXHIBITION BASED ON THE BUSH PROJECT
conceived and written by Diego Buongiorno

The Irrepressibles, Dorian Wood, Eivor, Amiina, Clare and the Reason, Sabina Sciubba (Brazilian Girls), Little Red Lung, Craig Walker (Archive), Hogni Egilsson (GusGus).

“WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS” è il progetto espositivo ideato, scritto e diretto da Diego Buongiorno basato sul concept album “The Bush”, che mette insieme musica, arte, cinema e fotografia.

WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS
”To dream is to represent. Art is representation. Whoever dreams creates like an artist.”

THE ART EXHIBITION BASED ON THE BUSH PROJECT
conceived and written by Diego Buongiorno

As the ship of Coleridge that returns from the storm, “WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS”, the third stage of the concept album “The Bush” by Diego Buongiorno will land for the first time in Rome on the 16th of September, in the exclusive location of Horti Sallustiani, built in the I century B.C. An original fairytale narrated through 25 musical tracks written, arranged and produced by the Italian composer of Icelandic adoption.

“Everyone is able of dreaming, and dreaming is representing; and as every form of art is representation, whoever dreams creates as an Artist. This art-exhibition is a different way to present a project that tells about a dream, the dream of a woman who imagines to be a little child through a forest full of pitfalls and beauty. But it is also one of the many different ways we have to represent. It’s a path where you are immersed in dreamlike dimension to perceive images and sounds that have their roots in distant memories; it’s an opportunity to express our own transformative dimension, the urgency to represent belongs to the human beings’ history since ever. A live music show and an art-exhibition that represents the dialogue between the conscious world and the irrational world, in which the classical form of the location in Rome is mixed with the alternative and cinematic one of music, and meets in the theatre, the visual art and the performance. Another tile of a musical project that has at its core the power of female identity, bringing the woman at the center of a journey between Innocence, Courage and Imagination.” - says Buongiorno.

A traveling exhibition born from the need to create and represent the work that could enclose all the imaginary and the collaborations of this double musical album described by the Rolling Stone Italia as “a labour of love, a unique product that like a catalogue of a dream record label hosts guest musicians of international fame” like Jo Hamilton, Tanya Tagaq (Polar Prize 2014), The Irrepressibles, Dorian Wood, Eivor, Amiina, Clare and the Reason, Sabina Sciubba (Brazilian Girls), Little Red Lung, Craig Walker (Archive), Hogni Egilsson (GusGus).
An album that boasts like icing on the cake the collaborations of Mandy Parnell, mastering engineer of Bjork, Feist, Sigur Ros, Max Richter, The XX, and Addi 800, mixing engineer of Blur, Sigur Ros, Bjork, Olafur Arnalds.
A work full of collaborations with international musicians, photographers, artists and filmmakers, guests of this opera entirely self-produced in three years with his independent label Never Stop Dreaming Industries.
The intermediate stage of the project was “My Heart is a Forest,” the live concert conceived by Buongiorno, produced in collaboration with DNAconcerti, and presented during the 2013 season of Romaeuropa Festival, that led many of the musicians involved and other new collaborations to perform in the fascinating exhibition at the Teatro Palladium.

What returns in different forms is a space of hovering dream, an atmosphere that simply tells a mystery. That mystery that rests in the dialectic between conscious and irrational, and in which the human being elaborates intuitions and creates wonderful worlds. Dreams are at the base “as much of the scientific imagination, as of poetry, of music and of the construction of ethic systems” (cit. Gerald Edelman, medicine's Nobel Prize), and are born from a different nucleus, protected inside each one of us.
“WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS” is an exhibition project created by Diego Buongiorno based on the concept album “The Bush” that joins together music, art, photography and cinema.
An exhibition that conveys all the imagination of this first debut work through the collaboration of photographers like Aëla Labbé, Kirsty Mitchell, Jacqueline Roberts, Nicol Vizioli, Helen Warner, and directors like Fabrizio Cestari, Brando De Sica, Matteo Linguiti, Veronica Mengoli, Thor Saevarsson & Harpa Einarsdottir Ziska, Andrea Sisson, Henry Jun Wah Lee, Richard Wakefield.
The prologue to the entrance of the exhibition-concert will be assigned to the narrating voice of Carolina Crescentini, in a hologram produced by Lumen Production in collaboration with DNA Cultura by Diego Loreggian. Actress and artist Tea Falco will be the woman that will embody this dream, and the whole architecture of the world conceived by Buongiorno, with sounds, images, representative artworks and installations inspired to the album. The bed with branches, and the butterflies assemblages by Zaelia Bishop; 10 artworks by Nina Viviana Cangialosi; a site specific installation made of four thousand pieces of paper by Micaela Lattanzio; the original illustrations by Davide Dormino, with watercolors and gouache by Luca Salvati; the lamp, which has the name of the little child Ava protagonist of the story, by designer Gaia Grossi of Betelgeuse Studio; Studio Octopus by Edmondo Angelelli will create the holographic content and the videomapping of the visuals, filmed for this project by various directors. The special effects, like the big pulsating heart, will be created by Leonardo Cruciano (“Tale of Tales,” "Ben Hur”); costumes selected by Massimo Cantini Parrini (“The Brothers Grimm, “Tale of Tales”) will be provided by Tirelli Costumi.

At the première of September 16th | 9:30 PM, a new 60 minute musical suite will be presented; a musical soundtrack written and arranged ad hoc by Buongiorno, that will accompany the audience for the whole duration of the exhibition. This suite will include new compositions: the single track “When We Dream We Are All Creators”, written with Zoe-Ruth Erwin, featuring LA based band Little Red Lung; “Under the Blood of the Moon” written with Eleonora Betti; “From Early Birds to Night Owls” the third collaboration with Dorian Wood; and “Psychonauts”, an instrumental track featuring Galya Bisengalieva for the live version, and voice acting by Claudia Pandolfi for the iTunes edit. The live acoustic performance will include also some songs taken from the album, and will see the participation of French pianist Sara Brajovic, Kazakh violinist Galya Bisengalieva soloist of the London Contemporary Orchestra, from Los Angeles artist and composer Dorian Wood, Italian songwriter Eleonora Betti, trumpeter Claudio Graziano, drummer Sergio Tentella, the classical ballerina Cristina Albo, and Hogni Egilsson, singer of the Icelandic bands Hjaltalin and GusGus. All the exhibit and the performances will be crossed by the transfilming act by Emiliano Montanari, a new collaboration through which the composer and the filmmaker want to extend the artwork of the exhibition.
In line with the numerous forms of representation typical of Buongiorno's stagings, the exhibition “WHEN WE DREAM WE ARE ALL CREATORS” will be anticipated by a teaser directed by Italo-Belgian director Ivan Maria Friedman, by a trailer directed by Thor Saevarsson & Harpa Einarsdottir Ziska from Iceland, featuring the voice acting of Carolina Crescentini, and by a promo directed by Fabrizio Cestari featuring actress Giulia Bevilacqua. At the launch of the videos will be also released the new EP available on iTunes from September 13th, written for this event, as already happened for the theatrical live “My Heart is a Forest”.

A part of the sales of the collection will be donated to the "Naked Heart Foundation” who joined to the idea of this exhibition. "Naked Heart Foundation” is a Charity organization founded by top model and actress Natalia Vodianova, providing facilities for underprivileged children and supporting children with special needs and their families.

The after-show will be held at Salotto42 in front of Tempio di Adriano, and will be entrusted to Stephan Stephensen aka President Bongo founding member of GusGus, now ready with his debut solo album “Serengeti,” that will be released in October 2015 via AlbumLabel.

Thanks to the technical sponsors of the event: to Hitachi, in the name of Elaine Casabuona; to Cesare Fazioli for the piano in the venue; to DNA Cultura for the audio systems; to Tirelli Costumi; to Franciacorta Brut D.O.C.G.
