SACI MFA Graduate Exhibition

The final exhibition of the 2016 graduating MFA in Studio Art and MFA in Photography students of Studio Art Centers International, U-Turn, will open on April 8th. The exhibition presents works which concluded a long journey—a journey that has opened doors to a new view of the world.

Linda Kay Papadakis
Keri L. Rosebraugh
Hana M. Sackler
Jessica J. Taylor

For two years, these students lived in Florence and traveled throughout Italy and Europe. Their growth and development reflects an intense critical study of the roots of Western culture, which encouraged them to reinterpret their own roots. The students’ different countries of origin—USA, Jordan, Pakistan, and Peru—made for an interesting group. Their immersion in European culture spurred creation of original but complex languages of expression.

U_TURN is a movement, a change of direction, a path that reflects one’s own steps down a new and different road.The works include drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics, video, and photography. Each summarizes a two-year journey; all give evidence of different paths leading to formally distinctive artworks.

The exhibition runs until April 22 (3-7pm).
