"Il progetto Non-Profit & Profit nasce in occasione dei dieci anni di vita dell’associazione “Uscita Pistoia” per celebrare l’attività di questo spazio d’arte non-profit dalla cui esperienza ha avuto origine, nel 2008, la galleria “SpazioA”.

Sono due esperienze diverse, quella dell’associazione culturale e quella della galleria che, da allora, ogni anno si incrociano e vivono l’una dell’altra, con la consapevolezza di queste loro differenze, ma anche dell’importanza che entrambe rivestono per me e per la mia energia.

Le prime edizioni di Uscita Pistoia, co-curate da me con Fuyumi Namioka, nacquero con la spontaneità e la voglia di condividere con un gruppo di artisti degli spazi ed in particolare l’allora mia casa-studio, ancora oggi sede dell’associazione, facendone luoghi di esposizione.

In questa occasione, dopo dieci anni, ho voluto di nuovo adottare quella stessa modalità di allora, dettata da decisioni istintive e relazionali. Una modalità di condivisione con gli artisti, lontana da scelte intellettualistiche e/o pragmatiche.

Saranno presenti anche alcune opere di mio padre, morto nel 2006, la cui figura di uomo e di artista è stata fondamentale per il percorso che mi ha portato a quello che sono e che faccio adesso.

Le opere saranno allestite negli spazi di Uscita Pistoia, nella galleria SpazioA e nel suo project space. Vi saranno inoltre altri spazi pubblici dislocati a Pistoia e provincia dove saranno allestite alcune opere e dove sono previsti dei talk che avranno come tema proprio il rapporto tra spazi “non-profit” e spazi “profit” (gallerie). Saranno invitate a parlare persone con esperienze di diverso tipo che hanno scelto di muoversi su entrambi i fronti e persone che hanno iniziato da uno spazio non-profit, per poi decidere di trasformarlo in galleria."

"The Non-Profit & Profit project is being launched on the 10th anniversary of the birth of the “Uscita Pistoia” Association to celebrate the activity of this non-profit art production/exhibition area from which “SpazioA” gallery developed in 2008.

The cultural association and the art gallery represent two different experiences, and ever since then, once a year, every year, these two come together and take part in the other’s experience, both perfectly aware of their differences and the importance they both have for me and the energy I dedicate.

The first editions of Uscita Pistoia were co-curated by Fuyumi Namioka and me out of the spontaneous spirit and desire to share various art exhibition and production areas with a group of artists, one of which in particular was my home-studio in at the time, which even today serves as the Association’s headquarters and still hosts exhibitions.

For this occasion 10 years later, I wanted to adopt the same methods as then, which were dictated by instinctive decisions and personal relationships – a way of sharing with artists that has nothing to do intellectual and/or pragmatic choices.

We will also be displaying a number of works by my father - who passed away in 2006 – a person whose dimension as both man and artist proved to be fundamental along the path that brought me to where I am and what I do today.

The works will be exhibited in the Uscita Pistoia areas, in the SpazioA gallery, and in its project space.
The Non-Profit & Profit project will also feature public areas at various locations in Pistoia and the province where selected works will be set up and talks dealing with the relationship between “non-profit” and “profit” areas (galleries) will be given by operators in the sector. Other people from different backgrounds will also be invited to speak, some who have decided to act at both levels, as well as others who started working in non-profit areas before opting for transformation into a gallery."
