Quarta edizione di DAMA.

Comunicato stampa

"Change is the basis of all history, the proof of vigor.
The old is solid and disgusting by nature.
Stale food is repellent, monogamous love breeds contempt, senility cripples the government that is too powerful too long.
Upheaval, is desirable because fresh, untrained group seize opportunity.
Violent overthrow is appropriate when the situation is intolerable.
Slow modification can be effective; men change before they notice and resist.
The decadent and powerful champion continuity.
“Nothing essential changes”. That is a myth. It will be refuted.
The necessary birth convulsions will be triggered.
Action will bring the evidence to your doorstep."

DAMA returns on its fourth edition, during the contemporary art week of Turin, and changes!
We change our venue, we change our identity but we keep safe our mission.

Born as a collaborative project for a small group of international galleries invited to present the work of emerging artists in a full dialogue with the history of the city, DAMA 2019 aims to offer more space to a thoughtful approach on relationships and networking, reducing the number of participants and expanding the curatorial view of the Live Programme.

For this reason the upcoming edition is holding a lot of news and a deeper attention to details, starting from a new venue, after three years, that will open a just restored baroque palace in center of town for the first time to the public and dedicating more importance to the Live Programme that from this year it will have its own palace next to the main venue, thanks to Camera di Commercio di Torino.
So we have the pleasure to present Elise Lammer, curator at Salts in Basel, as the appointed curator of the upcoming edition. The project will be supported by Compagnia di San Paolo, main sponsor together with Fondazione Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT.

Moreover, we are thrilled to start a new collaboration with Siliqoon, a Milan based art agency that from 2019 is collaborating with us curating the graphic identity, year by year, through the eyes of the artists invited to interpretate the logo of DAMA as the first artwork offered for free to the viewers.
For this year Siliqoon starts this journey through the point of view by Andrea Magnani.

We have also the pleasure to confirm the partnership with some amazing magazines like Artuu, Cura., Exibart, MyArtGuides, KubaParis and start the collaboration with some new as Arte e Critica and Contemporary Lynx.

The venues, the participants and other news will be revealed in the September newsletter and during the press conference on Wednesday October 16th in Turin.

We can't wait to see you again from Wednesday 30 October (by invitation only) until Sunday 3 November 2019.
Stay with us!
