Una settimana dʼincontri e workshop in cui artisti, scienziati e ricercatori provenienti da varie discipline
sono chiamati a presentare una riflessione su spazio, tempo, energia e materia.
Le arti e le scienze hanno utilizzato questi concetti per definire lʼuniverso in cui viviamo e proporre
sempre nuove forme, idee e teorie per rappresentare e spiegare il mondo. Ma quanto influiscono i
diversi modi di percezione/osservazione, calcolo/misurazione e immaginazione?
Cosa osserva dello spazio uno scienziato e cosa un artista, un musicista o un pugile? Come misurano
ciò che osservano? Come immaginano ciò che ancora non sono in grado di osservare e stanno
osservando la stessa cosa? Insomma, come percepisce/misura/immagina il mondo uno scienziato e
come un artista… e cosa se ne può fare lʼuno dellʼimmaginario e della conoscenza dellʼaltro.
Quando si parla di buchi neri e materia oscura sembra di scivolare in un territorio dove la razionalità
del calcolo e delle ipotesi sconfinano nel linguaggio dellʼarte, della poesia e della mistica.
ʻParliamoneʼ... cercheremo di capire se stiamo parlando delle stesse cose o se ogni disciplina ha oggi
gli strumenti per inventarsi un cosmo a proprio uso e consumo.
Mercoledì 26, venerdì 28, sabato 29 settembre e lunedì 1 ottobre si susseguiranno conferenze di
astrofisici, astronomi, artisti, musicisti, informatici, medici, filosofi, insieme a performance e
installazioni. I lavori realizzati, i disegni del progetto speciale extra dimensioni e i risultati degli incontri
saranno esposti durante tutta la settimana alla galleria Artra.
Qualche anticipazione di Cose Cosmiche #3:
Luca Valenziano (INAF/IASF-Bologna, I) e Antonella Del Rosso (CERN Ginevra, CH) discuteranno le
numerose dimensioni extra che il nostro universo potrebbe avere e parleranno di come metodi di
ricerca e teorie diverse possano contribuire a svelare questo e altri misteri. Multiversi, materia,
antimateria e, naturalmente, il bosone di Higgs recentemente scoperto saranno illustrati e dibattuti.
Azioni di Gianluca Codeghini con muoviti fino a quando nella tua memoria avrai il dubbio di esserti
spinto altrove o di non esserti mai mosso e il tavolo di lavoro Measuring (Alessandro di Pietro, Simone
Frangi, Pietro Spoto) sulla misurazione inogettiva.
Relatività ristretta e buchi neri con Massimo Cappi (INAF/IASF Bologna, I) e uno sguardo filosofico, a
partire dalla riflessione di alcuni importanti pensatori del Novecento, intorno alla nozione di Cosmo,
con Claudio Rozzoni (Università degli Studi di Milano, I).
Limits of research con Serena Osti e Star Walk di Bruno Muzzolini … e assegnazione del Premio
Cosmico.

Arrivals and departures. Aka: the 10 dimensions plus 1.

A week of meetings and workshops where artists, scientists and researchers of various fields are
invited to present their thoughts on space, time, energy and matter.
The arts and the sciences have used these concepts to define the universe we live in, always
proposing new shapes, ideas and theories to represent and explain it.
But just how big is the influence of the different ways of perception/observation,
calculation/measurement and imagination? What does a scientist observe of space, what does the
artist, what the musician or a boxer? How do they measure what they observe?
How do they imagine what they are not yet able to observe, while observing the same thing? In short,
how does a scientist perceive/measure/imagine time, space, cosmos and how does an artist… and
what can one do the one of the imagination and of the knowledge of the other.
When we speak about black holes and dark matter it seems as if we are sliding into a region where
the rationality of calculations and of scientific hypothesis trespass into the language of art, of poetry, of
mysticism. ʻLetʼs talk about itʼ… we will try to understand if we are talking about the same things or if
each discipline has now the instruments to invent a cosmos of his own, for his own ends.
Wednesday 26, Friday 28, Saturday 29 September and Monday 1 October we will have a
succession of talks by astrophysicists, astronomers, artists, musicians, computer scientists,
physicians, philosophers, mixed by performances and installations. The space of the gallery
containing the works being developed, the project “disegni di extra dimensioni” (drawings of extra
dimensions) and the results of the meetings and discussions will be accessible for the whole week.
Some anticipations of Cose Cosmiche #3: Luca Valenziano (INAF/IASF-Bologna, I) and Antonella Del
Rosso (CERN Ginevra, CH) will discuss the numerous extra dimensions that our universe could have
and will describe how different research methods and different theories could contribute in unveiling
this and other mysteries. Multiverses, matter, antimatter and, obviously, the recently observed Higgs
boson will be explained and discussed.
Gianluca Codeghini, “muoviti fino a quando nella tua memoria avrai il dubbio di esserti spinto altrove o
di non esserti mai mosso” (move until in your memory youʼll have the doubt of having reached
somewhere else or of not having moved at all) and Measuring (Alessandro di Pietro, Simone Frangi,
Pietro Spoto) on the unobjective measurement.
Special relativity and black holes with Massimo Cappi (INAF/IASF Bologna, I), and a philosophical
view, starting from the thoughts of some important thinkers of the ʻ900, around the notion of Cosmos
with Claudio Rozzoni (Universitá degli Studi di Milano, I).
Serena Ostiʼs limits of research and Star Walk by Bruno Muzzolini… and the assignment of the
Cosmic Prize.
