Hues of Delicacy, una installazione site-specific concepita dall’artista italo albanese Anila Rubiku.

Comunicato stampa

Zazà Ramen Sake Bar & Restaurant is pleased to present Hues of Delicacy, a site-specific installation conceived by the Italian-Albanian artist Anila Rubiku and featuring a critical text by

Irene Sofia Comi.

For this exhibition, Rubiku further develops her series The Inner Door, an ongoing body of work that explores the intimate boundary between private and public space through embroidery. Directly inspired by the internal doors of residential buildings in Milan, the artist’s adopted city, these works are an abstract exploration of form, color, and texture that transform ordinary elements of the urban environment into narrative and symbolic surfaces.

The project created for Zazà Ramen expands the reflection on transitional forms, thresholds, and domestic architectures, embracing the connection the artist has not only with the city of Milan but also with Canada, the country where she lives and works. It is precisely through contact with Indigenous Canadian communities that Rubiku learned the technique of using glass beads, assimilating a tradition rooted in a complex history of colonization and trade.

The exhibition takes its title from a 1994 poem by Elizabeth Woody, a Native American writer, establishing a poetic dialogue that crosses cultures and geographies. Hues of Delicacy refers to the fragility and preciousness of the materials used, particularly the glass beads, and to the chromatic nuances that animate the canvases. Yet the delicacy evoked is also that of light: glass reflects and captures glimmers, transforming the surface into a vibrating field. An abstraction upon abstraction, a perceptual play in which matter constructs images that oscillate between depth and surface.

Through Hues of Delicacy, Zazà Ramen invites the public to linger at the threshold between inside and outside, intimacy and sharing, discovering in the fragility of the material and the vibration of light a form of poetic resistance and intercultural dialogue.
