The title GranTour refers to the formative journeys of the European tradition, widespread from the 17th to the 19th century. Rather than alluding to a preset geographical itinerary, GranTour suggests a process of ongoing transformation, in which every experience contributes to the growth of the artist’s language. The sojourns, work periods and movements that have shaped 108’s recent years do not become the subject of the works: instead, they narrate interferences, influences and conditions in which an approach already in progress for over 25 years continues to expand.

Bertrand Loubé, a Paris-based artist and art director who has collaborated as a graphic designer with Agnès b., Air Paris, and Marithé + François Girbaud, presents his first solo show in Italy with The Cut-Outs. The practice of collage runs through the history of art in the 20th century as one of its most radical gestures: to break down reality in order to reconstruct it anew. Bertrand Loubé captures this heritage and reinterprets it through personal experience, in which the cut-out is not just a technique, but a compositional principle capable of transforming paper into form, color and space.
