Le opere di un artista presente nelle collezioni del British Museum, del Victoria and Albert Museum e delle Gallerie degli Uffizi arrivano per la prima volta in Italia — e lo fanno ad Amelia, tra i reperti di un museo archeologico.
Dal 6 settembre all'8 novembre 2026 il Museo Archeologico e Pinacoteca "Edilberto Rosa" ospita Everything leaves a trace, mostra personale di Huangsheng Wang (王璜生), tra le figure di maggior rilievo dell'arte contemporanea cinese. La collezione, già esposta a Londra e Shanghai, viene presentata in Italia per la prima volta.
Il titolo evoca l'idea che ogni presenza, gesto o oggetto lasci un segno nel presente. È una riflessione che negli spazi di un museo archeologico trova la sua collocazione naturale: qui le tracce del passato sono il punto di partenza della conoscenza e della memoria collettiva. Wang reinterpreta queste tracce attraverso opere realizzate a inchiostro con la tecnica del rubbing, trasformando superfici e impronte quotidiane in immagini che interrogano il rapporto tra tempo, memoria e materia. Il dialogo che ne nasce — tra il gesto contemporaneo e il reperto antico esposto nella stessa sala — è il cuore del progetto espositivo.
Huangsheng Wang è artista, curatore e studioso di arte e museologia, dottore in filosofia delle Arti visive. È professore presso la Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) di Pechino e direttore del New Museum Studies Research Center della Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA). Nel corso della sua carriera ha diretto alcune delle principali istituzioni museali cinesi, tra cui il Guangdong Museum of Art e i musei d'arte della CAFA e della GAFA.
Tra i riconoscimenti ricevuti figurano il titolo di Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, conferito dal governo francese nel 2004, e quello di Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia, nel 2006. Le sue opere sono conservate, oltre che nelle istituzioni già citate, presso l'Ashmolean Museum di Oxford.

Le opere di Wang non si limitano a dialogare con i reperti: sviluppano con le cose un'interazione profonda e intima, rivelandone una natura nascosta allo sguardo ordinario dello spettatore — il loro essere, anch'esse, impronte lasciate da corpi e gesti scomparsi.»

Works by an artist held in the collections of the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Uffizi Galleries come to Italy for the first time — and they do so in Amelia, among the finds of an archaeological museum.
From 6 September to 8 November 2026, the Museo Archeologico e Pinacoteca "Edilberto Rosa" presents Everything Leaves a Trace, a solo exhibition by Huangsheng Wang (王璜生), one of the leading figures in Chinese contemporary art. Previously shown in London and Shanghai, the collection is presented in Italy for the first time.
The title evokes the idea that every presence, gesture or object leaves a mark on the present — a reflection that finds its natural setting within an archaeological museum, where traces of the past are the starting point for knowledge and collective memory. Wang reinterprets these traces through works created in ink using the rubbing technique, transforming surfaces and everyday impressions into images that examine the relationship between time, memory and matter. The dialogue this creates — between the contemporary gesture and the ancient artefact displayed in the same room — lies at the heart of the exhibition.
Huangsheng Wang is an artist, curator and scholar of art and museology, holding a doctorate in the philosophy of visual arts. He is Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing and Director of the New Museum Studies Research Center at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA). Over his career he has directed several of China's principal art institutions, including the Guangdong Museum of Art and the art museums of CAFA and GAFA.
His distinctions include the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, conferred by the French government in 2004, and Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, in 2006. His works are held in major international collections, including the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
«An archaeological museum is, in itself, an archive of traces. Wang’s works do more than simply engage in dialogue with the artifacts: they establish a profound and intimate relationship with things, bringing to light a dimension ordinarily hidden from the viewer’s gaze — their own nature as traces, too, imprints left behind by bodies and gestures that have disappeared.»
