Raffaele Di Vaia / Rachel Morellet – Je vois de la lumière noire

“Je vois de la lumière noire” è una doppia personale di Raffaele Di Vaia e Rachel Morellet, due artisti toscani che per la prima volta espongono insieme esplorando la convergenza tra le loro pratiche artistiche giustapponendo due soggetti a cui spesso si riferiscono nel loro lavoro PRESENZA e ASSENZA.

“Je vois de la lumière noire" is a double solo exhibition by Raffaele Di Vaia and Rachel Morellet, two mixed media artists who are exhibiting together for the first time. They explore the convergence between their respective artistic practices by juxtaposing two subjects they often refer to in their work as PRESENCE and ABSENCE. These subjects seem to be very clearly defined but their meaning becomes ambiguous in the works by Raffaele and Rachel. “Je vois de la lumière noire" (“I see Black Light”), Victor Hugo’s last words, is an oxymoron: black is the colour of obscurity whereas light inherently reveals, as in the works of Raffaele and Rachel where an artist’s intervention is making visible through concealing or uncovering the pieces of concealed, not being able to uncover it entirely. Black pen in Rachel’s series ‘Marks’ reinforces the presence of intruders instead of hiding them: objects abandoned in a natural environment. ‘Aleph’, 8 drawings on black paper by Raffaele Di Vaia, present spheres of light emerging from the black background. The spheres seem empty but each one contains a different story, a part of our Universe as described in the homonymous short story of Jorge Luis Borges. For the occasion, the artists will produce a new video-installation together.

"Je vois de la lumière noire" ("Vedo una luce nera") le ultime parole di Victor Hugo si riferiscono a un ossimoro, cioè luce nera, la luce che nasconde quando dovrebbe rivelare. Come nelle opere di Raffaele e Rachel che rendono visibile attraverso l'occultamento o scoprono I pezzi del nascosto.
Il pennarello nero nella serie di Rachel "Marks" invece di nascondere rafforza la presenza degli intrusi, oggetti abbandonati nell'ambiente naturale.
Mentre la serie "Aleph", 8 disegni su carta nera, di Raffaele Di Vaia, presenta 8 sfere luminose che emergono dallo sfondo nero, apparentemente vuote ma contenente ciascuna una storia diversa, una parte del nostro Universo, come descritto nell'omonimo racconto di Jorge Luis Borges.
Per l'occasione gli artisti creeranno una nuova video-installazione a quattro mani.
