Piera Benetti – Small Boxes
Comunicato stampa
Small Boxes is essentially a gathering. While first referencing the domestic space, it propels itself into other spaces, like the exhibition space. As a means for individuals and gallery visitors to ponder the notion of what struggle, liberation and freedom means in Post-Fascist Italy. Contemplating past traumatic events. In reflection at times, we attempt to contain our memories of the past as if neatly concealed in a box, only for it to spill from the edges and out when re-emerged to the surface which forms a vivid “thought picture”/ rememory – as seen in Small Boxes. Small Boxes becomes a site to project these past memories and traumas. Presenting what remains when history has passed. It is a site of rememory.
