“when someone creates something, they take responsibility for what they have done… art is a problem of innovation and invention.” with these words, in 1976, max bill defined art as a process of continuous invention. from here, the lorenzelli arte gallery in milan sets out to present max bill | l’arte è un problema d’innovazione, a museum‑ scale solo exhibition which, from 6 november 2026 to 13 february 2027, brings together over 60 works – paintings, sculptures and graphic works, several of which come from matteo lorenzelli’s personal collection – spanning from the early 1940s to the late 1980s, retracing almost fifty years of research by the great swiss master. at the centre of the exhibition, sculpture as the synthesis of max bill’s artistic and theoretical thought.
