Giovedì 13 giugno, alle 18.30, inaugura 444 / Celestial Means of Locomotion, un progetto espositivo creato appositamente per lo spazio, che unisce fotografia, pitture, disegno ed editoria.

444 è il nome di un progetto in corso, di cui il libro Celestial Means of Locomotion, edito da Départ Pour L’Image Edition, raccoglie una selezione di opere.
Il progetto sviluppa una riflessione intorno all’eccezionalità di 444 giorni, l’intervallo di tempo in cui Van Gogh trasformò Arles e tutto il territorio circostante in uno studio a cielo aperto.

444, attraverso la rilettura degli elementi reali e simbolici del territorio, mette in relazione la dimensione evocativa dell’immagine con quella introspettiva e visionaria delle lettere di Van Gogh. Il progetto nasce dall’incontro con il platano alla sinistra del Ponte di Trinquetaille dal Quai de la Roquette che Van Gogh dipinse appena piantato all’inizio dell’ottobre 1888.

Il titolo Celestial Means of Locomotion si riferisce all’esatta mappa stellare della notte tra 9 e il 10 luglio 1888 quando Vincent scrive a Theo dell’analogia tra i punti sulla carta geografica e le stelle.

La mostra resterà aperta fino al 21 luglio 2019.

We are pleased to invite you to meet the second guest of Spazio Choisi: Luca Reffo of Départ Pour L’Image.
Thursday, June 13th, at 18.30, we will inaugurate 444 / Celestial Means of Locomotion, a site-specific project, which combines photography, painting, drawing and publishing.

444 is the name of an ongoing project of Celestial Means of Locomotion published by Départ Pour L’Image Edition, which consists of collecting a selection of works.
The project is a creation of a reflection around the exceptional nature of 444 days, an interval of time in which Van Gogh transformed Arles and all of its surrounding territory, in an open-air study.

444, through the rereading of the real and symbolic elements of the territory, it brings together the evocative dimension of the image with the introspective and visionary nature of Van Gogh's letters. The project emerges from the encounter with the plane tree to the left of the Trinquetaille Bridge from Quai de la Roquette that Van Gogh painted when it was just planted at the beginning of October 1888.

The title Celestial Means of Locomotion refers to the exact star map of the night between July 9 and 10 1888 when Vincent wrote to Theo about the analogy between the positions on the map and the stars.
