LdM Gallery is pleased to host Love Project by Leonardo Moretti. The works on show function as an emotional diaphragm. In photography the diaphragm acts as an instrument that regulates the passage of light, in this case the works filter a visual code based on emotions while reflecting on the mystifying power of images.
The installations on show have a strong connection with the artist’s private and personal emotions.
The works are installed in a fluid way and give an impression as if the exhibition space is slowly being flooded, covered and uncovered by the artworks.
In this exhibition the artist presents artworks that develop in series, that yearn to be reproduced serially and to fill the whole space they have available. This seaming seriality gets interrupted as the viewer discovers that the elements, even if similar, maintain their uniqueness, thus the repetition is actually the reproduction of unique pieces.
As also the emotion of love, that has been the most represented, repeated, praised and celebrated by the artists all over the world, continues to contain uniqueness that is related to the personality involved. And that remains so even though so much has been said about love that it became a fetish, a brand. This phenomenon became even more obvious with the occurrence of social media.
And it is social media that the artist refers to in his series Tristagram Story. The word “tristagram” is coined from the word “triste”, in Italian sad and “instagram”, the well-known social media. The work presents itself as a sequence which, through a fluid scan of its parts, splits the naked body into solids and voids without interruption. Bringing in this way the body in another dimension transforming it into "matter". No longer stable in its entirety, the body presents itself as an anomaly.
Within a layout of a social network that the title of the work explicitly refers to, our physical images are "showcased". Glamorous, superficial, they show us a posture that seems constructed but it is actually real. Our intimate, natural moments, become, through a visual filter, models for letting others perceive a disrupted reality that no longer regards us, thus remaining related to us. The nude literally allows us to reflect on how much we really "undress" on these platforms and how much we construct or allow others to construct our existence on a daily basis.
While Love Project addresses the topic of imagined love, the emotional quest that
transforms into physical discomfort, hence the choice of the figuration of the anatomical heart, protagonist of this series. Desire is the keyword. On a journey through multiple surfaces, the hermetic manifesto of love unfolds.
Yet again the object desired is unobtainable, because it is not real, it is in fact imaginary. The heart - desires, wants, instinctively strives for something that cannot be defined. This strong, intense, feeling has a power to consume the heart of whom is actually feeling it in the same way as of whom only desires to feel it.
Heart is trapped, sewn, patched, pierced, as the imagery around love multiplies and always manifests in a similar but never in an identical way. As in the case of lovers, the shape always varies but the content remains the same.
The exhibition is enriched with poetic texts about various perceptions of love written by the artist and by the interactive installation Desidero (I desire) that gives the viewer a chance to express a personal experience on a letter designed by the artist thus taking home his own and unique piece of the exhibition.

In fotografia il diaframma funge da strumento che regola il passaggio della luce, in questo caso le opere filtrano un codice visivo basato sulle emozioni riflettendo al contempo sul potere mistificante delle immagini.
Le installazioni in mostra hanno un forte legame con le emozioni intime e personali dell’artista.
Le opere sono installate in modo fluido e danno l'impressione che lo spazio espositivo venga lentamente inondato, coperto e scoperto dalle opere.
In questa mostra l'artista presenta opere che si sviluppano in serie, che desiderano essere riprodotte e riempire tutto lo spazio a loro disposizione. Questa serialità viene interrotta quando lo spettatore scopre che gli elementi, anche se simili, mantengono la loro unicità, quindi la riproduzione è falsa.
Come anche il sentimento dell'amore, quello più rappresentato, ripetuto, decantato e celebrato dagli artisti di tutto il mondo, continua a racchiudere unicità legata alla personalità coinvolta. E tale rimane anche se sull'amore si è detto così tanto da renderlo un feticcio, un marchio. Questo fenomeno si è accentuato ancora di più con l’avvento dei social media.
Ed è proprio ai social media che l'artista fa riferimento nella sua serie Tristagram Story. L'opera si presenta come una sequenza che, attraverso una scansione fluida delle sue parti, divide il corpo nudo in pieni e vuoti senza soluzione di continuità. Portando così il corpo in un'altra dimensione trasformandolo in “materia”. Non più stabile nella sua interezza, il corpo si presenta come un'anomalia.
All'interno di un layout di social network a cui fa esplicito riferimento il titolo dell'opera, le nostre immagini fisiche vengono “messe in mostra”. Affascinanti, superficiali, ci mostrano la postura che sembra costruita ma in realtà è reale. I nostri momenti intimi e naturali,
diventano, attraverso un filtro visivo, modelli per far percepire agli altri una realtà sconvolta che non ci riguarda veramente più, rimanendo pur sempre in relazione con noi. Il nudo ci permette letteralmente di riflettere su quanto realmente ci “spogliamo” su queste piattaforme e quanto quotidianamente costruiamo o permettiamo ad altri di costruire la nostra esistenza.
Mentre Love Project affronta il tema dell'amore immaginato, la ricerca emotiva che
si trasforma in disagio fisico, da qui la scelta della figurazione del cuore anatomico, protagonista di questa serie. Desiderio è la parola chiave. Attraverso un viaggio su molteplici superfici si dispiega il manifesto ermetico dell'amore.
Ancora una volta l'oggetto desiderato è irraggiungibile, perché non è reale, è infatti immaginario. Il cuore desidera, vuole, tende istintivamente a qualcosa che non può essere definito. Questo sentimento forte, intenso, ha il potere di consumare allo stesso modo il cuore di chi lo sta realmente provando e anche di chi desidera provarlo soltanto.
Il cuore è intrappolato, cucito, rattoppato, trafitto, mentre l'immaginario attorno all'amore si moltiplica e si manifesta sempre in modo simile ma mai identico. Come nel caso degli innamorati, la forma varia sempre ma il contenuto resta lo stesso.
