On Thursday 9th June at 6 pm Primae Noctis Art Gallery is pleased to present for the second time in Lugano the opening of new Jigger Cruz’ solo exhibition.
Cruz (Philippines, 1983) is among the most interesting discoveries in the Asian art platform. He studied Fine Arts at the Far Eastern University in the Philippines and design at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde.
The artworks prepared for this exhibition explore the concept of failure in the dialogue between utter surface and inner content, between past and present, between figuration and abstraction
Visual echoes of struggle emerge from canvas surfaces, reminding us the strenuous pictorial activity and the contemporary painter’s artistic and historical baggage. Space overtaking and time blasting flow together in unreal landscapes, dramatic and violent in their meaningful concreteness, cryptic and puzzling in their deaf abstraction.
