Surely Many Very Early Men Just Sat Under Native Palms è uno dei tanti stratagemmi mnemonici per ricordare l’ordine dei pianeti del sistema solare.
Ingresso libero.

Friday 10th November at 6 pm, la rada is delighted to present an exhibition that explores a dialogue and a confrontation between two contemporary artists: Alan Bogana and Brigham Baker.
Once the sun and the stars were dictating the rhythms of the activities; nowadays, it is the artifice to impose it, rather, to completely upset it with new habits. The excessive exposure to the outside lights of the city, especially at night, perturbs the circadian rhythm of different living species. In a time of environmental issues, la rada’s spaces fluctuate between dark and the light, expanding the reflection not about light only, but our existence and perception as well.

Surely Many Very Early Men Just Sat Under Native Palms is a mnemonic device to easily learn the order of the planets in the solar system. In this occasion, it indicates the trend of men who just sat under native palms always invoking these lights - sun, moon, stars - to guide their days and nights. A primordial, original and luminous echo that lives in the dialogue between the artworks of Alan Bogana and Brigham Baker, a poetic return to the beginning of humanity and to a mystic dimension which accompanies mankind from a long time.
The light is emphasized by the dialogue and in the interactive exchange between the artworks. The lighting, natural or artificial, nearby or on the horizon, is the liaison that has an essential and positive connotation in our culture. These artists evoke a sort of landscape, on different scales, remanding to solitary places, slices of heaven, in the contemplative and silent dimension that connects them. Holograms and sculptural elements of Bogana carry on a reflection about the notion of light pollution, compares the human dimension with the celestial one. He recreates the mechanisms underlying the phenomenon itself, by creating a tension generated from the clash between a seductive, remote and futuristic imagery, and a contemporary ecological issue. Baker focuses on solar light and its impact on human habits, their artifacts, and their decomposition over time. He concerns how the sun is able to enter us and directly effect us through its rays. He uses fabrics and recyclable materials, and develops an iconography in which the sun is recognized, in its meaning, in its demonstration, in its warm and its colors. His works become an instrument of measurement of human scale, showing the reach of corporal largeness.
