Per celebrare il 50mo anniversario di UnimediaModern.

Comunicato stampa

The life and work of Fluxus artist George Maciunas as seen in clips filmed between 1952 and 1978”.

1970 – 2020… A Story as Long as a Life

UnimediaModern first opened its doors in November, 1970, which means, of course, that it’s now at the start of its fiftieth season.

A Jubilee! But how is it best to be celebrated? At the same measured pace which throughout so many years has always been our guide, continuing with the presentation of significant exhibitions and events! Opening this season with a George Maciunas show isn’t, therefore, to be taken as a sign of any personal preference, and instead is simply a question of correcting an omission. During forty years of attention to Fluxus, we have never before presented a solo Maciunas show. Mister Fluxus surely deserves we make amends, and we’ll surely enjoy the agreement of all the other Fluxus artists.

The exhibition is entitled “Zephyrus Returns. The Maciunas Utopia.” Antonio d’Avossa, its curator, here refers back to Jonas Mekas and the film that bears the subtitle, “The life and work of Fluxus artist George Maciunas as seen in clips filmed between 1952 and 1978.”

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with texts by Antonio d’Avossa, Bertrand Clavez, Philip Corner, Caterina Gualco, Billie Maciunas, Gino Di Maggio, Henry Martin, Giuseppe Martucciello e Ben Vautier.

The date of the catalogue’s presentation remains to be announced, and the occasion will include a screening of Jonas Mekas’ film as well as a re-edition of a number of performances from the Golden Age of Fluxus, curated by Mauro Panichella.
