L’Associazione Muratcentoventidue-Artecontemporanea prosegue il programma espositivo con la prima mostra personale in Italia dell’artista norvegese Kaia Hugin.
Danimarca, Norvegia, Svezia, Finlandia, Islanda sono luoghi ormai non più così lontani né geograficamente, grazie ai numerosi voli low cost, né culturalmente, poiché sempre più spesso artisti scandinavi partecipano con successo a mostre in Italia.
Sotto la superficie del benessere sociale e dell’egualitarismo diffuso dei loro paesi, gli artisti del nord Europa hanno dimostrato negli ultimi decenni di saper interpretare molto efficacemente i grandi cambiamenti sociali ed economici che investono attualmente l’Europa.
Che usino un linguaggio surreale, iperrealista o politicamente impegnato, tutti mostrano un interesse crescente alle tematiche dell’individuo in rapporto, quasi sempre conflittuale, con la società in cui vive. Interessati alla filosofia, così come alla scienza e alla tecnologia , si muovono liberamente fra discipline differenti.
Il lavoro di Kaia Hugin ci sembra sia la dimostrazione della complessità e della ricchezza della produzione artistica nordica di questi ultimi decenni e la nostra Associazione è particolarmente lieta di poterlo proporre.

L’artista , che esplora in maniera trasversale la danza, la performance e la video arte, lavora attualmente ad una serie di video intitolata “Motholic Mobbles”, una riflessione su temi esistenziali attraverso l’esplorazione del movimento e dello spazio.
Il titolo è un’invenzione dell’artista in relazione al suo lavoro che lei definisce come “il movimento attraverso lo spazio che noi siamo incapaci di vedere e lo spazio che siamo incapaci di raggiungere”.
Nelle sue performance", l’artista cerca di comprendere quelle esperienze corporee che abbiamo nei nostri sogni , non nel senso di voler narrare un sogno, ma piuttosto di scoprire esperienze che si pongono al confine fra razionale e irrazionale.
I suoi video, in cui giocano un ruolo fondamentale il registro dello humour e l’utilizzo dell’estetica dei film horror, ricordano i film d’avanguardia di una pioniera del cinema, Maya Deren, che a metà del secolo scorso ha sperimentato combinazioni di film, coreografia e movimento con effetti surreali e molto personali .
Anche Kaia Hugin utilizza lo spazio, il tempo e il corpo come elementi compositivi della sua partizione visiva; tutto è trattato con un ironico gioco ritmico di ripetizioni e ralenti e le braccia protese, lo scivolare continuo dei corpi, gli sguardi trasognati, sottolineano l'uscita dall'ordinario.
