Today, April 14, 2020 at 4pm, Anna Franceschini will be live on Flash Art IGTV discussing with Vincenzo Di Rosa on the new cover she created for FLASH ART #348"VETRINOLOGY" March – April 2020.

For the occasion Journal publishes for 24h her new film DID YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A BROKEN GLASS IN THE WINDOW? created for her solo show currently on view at Vistamarestudio, Milano, continuing her exploration of the narrative potential of displays and of the shop window as a para-cinematographic device.

The film, which employs the now-familiar repertoire of objects that has come to typify her practice, reinterpreting the shapes and materials of some of the window displays devised by the American designer Gene Moore, Tiffany’s historic artistic director. Display units, souvenirs, props and lens filters, from the artist’s personal archive, are used to create an immersive environment crowded with photographic and moving images, in a meditation on the very act of displaying and exhibiting.

Anna Franceschini (Pavia, 1979). Her work has been showed in solo and group exhibitions at numerous institutions worlwide, In 2019 she made the short film BUSTROFEDICO, a special commissioned project for the Italian Pavillion at the 58th Venice Biennale. She lives and works in Milan.

Per l'occasione Journal pubblica online per 24h il suo nuovo film DID YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A BROKEN GLASS IN THE WINDOW? realizzato per la sua personale in corso da Vistamarestudio Milano, in cui continua la sua indagine sul potenziale narrativo del display e sull’idea della vetrina come dispositivo para-cinematografico.

Il film reinterpreta, tramite un repertorio oggettuale ormai segno riconoscibile della sua pratica, forme e materiali di alcune delle teche del leggendario designer Gene Moore, storico art director di Tiffany. Espositori da vetrina, souvenirs, props e filtri cinematografici, provenienti dall’archivio personale dell’artista, sono utilizzati per creare un ambiente immersivo popolato da immagini fotografiche e in movimento che riflettono sull'atto stesso del mostrare e dell'esibire.

Anna Franceschini (Pavia, 1979. Le sue opere sono state esposte in mostre personali e collettive in tutto il mondo. Nel 2019 ha realizzato il cortometraggio BUSTROFEDICO, progetto speciale commissionato per il Padiglione Italia della 58. Esposizione Internazionale. Vive e lavora a Milano.
