Biagiotti Progetto Arte è lieta di presentare CROSS OVER, prima personale di Cristian Chironi (Nuoro, 1974) all’interno degli spazi della fondazione. Cristian Chironi porta avanti un lavoro rigoroso sullo statuto del visivo, la percezione e la permanenza delle immagini e la mutazione del loro valore semantico mediante pratica artistica. Chironi è interessato a sondare come attraverso la manipolazione e la decontestualizzazione delle immagini si giunga a derive visive e ad accostamenti concettuali inaspettati capaci di sviluppare relazioni inedite tra polarità dialettiche quali realtà/finzione, figura/immagine, conflitto/integrazione, materiale/immateriale, presenza/assenza.
Gli strumenti normativi dei quali Chironi si serve sono quelli della sottrazione e della perdita, ma anche l'accumulo, volto alla classificazione di informazioni e dati: l'artista li impiega connessi ad una dimensione fisica, oggettuale, della realtà. Rilevante nelle opere di Chironi è infatti l’aspetto performativo, volto a favorire l’esperienza della forma/immagine tramite la sua vivificazione. Il libro in tal senso, diviene uno strumento preferenziale e generativo, la cui architettura interna si fa, grazie all’operazione dell’artista, declinazione di “scena” e “mondo” esterno.
CROSS OVER è un eterogeneo percorso espositivo all’interno del quale Chironi indaga i plurimi livelli interpretativi a cui le immagini danno vita grazie alla loro relazione e astrazione. Caratteristica sostanziale della mostra, a cui lo stesso titolo allude, è l'interazione tra materiali e linguaggi diversi, volta ad un ideale “attraversamento”. Una combinazione di elementi e suggestioni diversificate che conduce a nuove sintesi percettive e a cortocircuiti narrativi, ma che allo stesso tempo si configura come un continuum concettuale e visivo, in cui performance, fotografie, ritagli e installazioni dialogano strettamente tra loro.
Cristian Chironi è nato a Nuoro nel 1974. Vive e lavora a Bologna. Biagiotti Progetto Arte is glad to present CROSS OVER by Cristian Chironi (Nuoro, 1974), his first solo exhibition held in the spaces of the Foundation. Cristian Chironi has been meticulously working on the substance of visual sense, on the permanence of images and the mutation of their semantic meaning through art. Chironi’s main interest regards the investigation of art manipulation and image de‐ contextualization that allow visual remote possibilities and unexpected links between dialectic, concepts like reality/fiction, figure/image, conflict/integration, corporeal/intangible, presence/absence.
Chironi makes use of different processes like withdrawal and loss, but also accumulation in order to classify information and data, all of them strictly connected with the physical and objective dimension of reality. In fact, the performative aspect is highly significant in Chironi’s work: it allows experience of the dichotomy figure/image by bringing it back to life. With respect to this the book represents a favorite generative instrument whose inner structure thanks to the artist’s work refers to both external “stage” and “world”.
CROSS OVER is an heterogeneous expositive journey where Chironi investigates the multifaceted levels of interpretation that arise through the interconnection and abstraction of different images. The main feature of the exhibition – as suggested by the title itself – is the interaction of different materials and languages mirroring an ideal ‘cross over’. The combination of different elements and influences allows new perceptual syntheses and narrative plots where performance, photography, cut‐outs and installations significantly interact with each other.
Cristian Chironi was born in Nuoro in 1974. He lives and works in Bologna.
