Cem Hasimi – Do You Know Me?

The exhibition presents a new body of work from the artist’s FACEPRINTS series, exploring identity, uniqueness and the changing ways in which we recognise one another.

Moving between portrait and abstraction, the works examine how identity is perceived, interpreted and classified. Faces emerge and dissolve within shifting fields of lines, remaining recognisable without ever becoming fully fixed. The series takes the fingerprint as a conceptual point of departure, translating the idea of a unique human marker into a visual system in constant transformation.

At the core of Do You Know Me? is the distinction between recognition and knowledge. Humans recognise faces, while machines recognise patterns, yet neither form of recognition can fully account for the complexity of an individual. The exhibition reflects on this distance, asking what remains beyond identification and how much of a person can ever be contained in what can be seen or recognised.
