Twenty14 è lieta di presentare la prima mostra Italiana dell’artista tedesca Alina Maria Frieske.

Abglanz, che in tedesco significa riflesso, è una serie di collage in cui centinaia di frammenti presi da varie fotografie vengono assemblati in nuove immagini, come fossero pezzi di diversi puzzle, mescolati ed abbinati in un unico tableau. Si tratta di un corpus di lavori che ci rimanda al mondo digitale nella forma, ma nella pratica ammicca alla tradizione pittorica. Attraverso queste composizioni Alina Frieske tira le fila della nostra percezione su più livelli, lasciando lo spettatore incerto sull’oggetto del suo sguardo.
I soggetti ritratti sono prevalentemente domestici e in un certo senso familiari, complice il fatto che il materiale di base con cui sono costruiti questi collage proviene da immagini caricate su piattaforme di condivisione online e social network. Le immagini combinate tra loro, finiscono per mimetizzarsi nella loro reciproca imitazione. Quali figure rimangono riconoscibili e quali si perdono nella folla? Il lavoro di Alina Frieske esplora i confini tra individuo e massa, tra elementi
figurativi ed illusione.

Alina Maria Frieske (*1994, GER) lavora con immagini assemblate e studia l'intersezione tra
fotografia e pittura. Con un interesse per il materiale trovato online e la sua circolazione, il suo
lavoro affronta le dinamiche tra astrazione e identificazione. Ha studiato comunicazione visiva nei Paesi Bassi (2017) e ha terminato il suo Master in Fotografia all'ECAL in Svizzera (2019). Nel 2020 ha esposto a Plat(t)form Winterthur, Images Vevey e durante il Festival di Hyeres. È stata tra i Ones to Watch 2020 del British Journal of Photography. Vive e lavora a Berlino.
Twenty14 is pleased to present the first Italian exhibition by German artist Alina Maria Frieske.
Abglanz, which in German means reflection, is a series of collages in which hundreds of fragments taken from various photographs are assembled into new images, as if they were pieces of different puzzles mixed and matched in a single tableau. It is a body of works that deals with the digital world for the form but recall to the painting tradition for the practice. Through these compositions Alina Frieske pulls the strings of our perception on several levels, the viewer remains so uncertain about what is in front of him, is it a photograph or a painting?
The subjects portrayed are mainly domestic and in a certain way really familiar, maybe because these artworks are based on everyday smartphone photos from the endless pool of the web. Put together, the images camouflage themselves in their mutual imitation. Which contours remain recognisable and what blurs in the crowd? Alina Frieske's work explores the dynamics between the individual and the mass, between figurative elements and illusion.
The exhibition project is also conceived under a digital form, created in partnership with Art Curator Grid platform.
Alina Maria Frieske (*1994, GER) works with assembled images and studies the intersection between photography and painting. With an interest in found material online and its circulation, the work deals with the dynamics between abstraction and identification. She studied Visual Communication in the Netherlands (2017) and finished her Master in Photography at ECAL in Switzerland (2019). In 2020 she exhibited amongst others in the framework of Plat(t)form Winterthur, Images Vevey and during Hyeres Festival. She was among the Ones to Watch 2020,
British Journal of Photography. She lives and works in Berlin.
