Hektor Mamet – Production 2

Hektor Mamet presenta il progetto Produzione al
quadrato. Mettendo in atto quello che l’artista definisce un vero e proprio processo di post-produzione nel senso che da al termine Nicolas Bourriaud in Postproduction (2002), gli oggetti domestici dirottati dalla loro funzione, sono alterati o ricostruiti con materiali inadatti questionando in modo ambiguo la percezione della realta’ da parte dello spettatore.

Sabato 25 giugno presso la galleria Artericambi Hektor Mamet presenta il progetto Produzione al
quadrato. Mettendo in atto quello che l'artista definisce un vero e proprio processo di post-produzione nel
senso che da al termine Nicolas Bourriaud in Postproduction (2002)1, gli oggetti domestici dirottati dalla
loro funzione, sono alterati o ricostruiti con materiali inadatti questionando in modo ambiguo la
percezione della realta' da parte dello spettatore.
I “prodotti” esposti in mostra saranno accompagnati da un catalogo pubblicato con la partecipazione
dell’Istituto Svizzero di Roma presso cui Hektor Mamet e’ residente/membro da settembre 2010 a luglio
2011. Tale catalogo, presentato sotto forma di foglio delle istruzioni, affianchera' ai disegni di ciascun'
opera, realizzati dall'artista come fossero “articoli” in vendita nei grandi magazzini, testi estratti da altri
manuali che, senza fornire al lettore alcun elemento aggiuntivo utile all'interpretazione, annulleranno al
contrario, il significato stesso di ciascun'opera.
Insieme a Produzione al quadrato vengono presentati inoltre il video e la serie di fotografie dal titolo
Edifici Futuri (2009) nati grazie al coinvolgimento degli studenti di architettura dell’École Nationale
Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Malaquais ai quali l'artista ha chiesto di eseguire la verticale, esercizio
di rovesciamento a 180°.
Hektor Mamet e' un artista svizzero (1983), ha studiato a Londra presso il MA Chelsea College of Art and Design e a
Parigi al Programme de recherche “La Seine” (E.N.S.B.A.)

“Gli artisti attuali evolvono in un universo di prodotti in vendita, di forme preesistenti, di segnali gia emessi, di edifici
gia costruiti, d’itinerari gia’ calpestati, dai loro predecessori. Essi non considerano piu’ il campo artistico come un
museo contenente delle opere che si dovrebbe citare o “sorpassare”, malgrado come lo vorrebbe l’ideologia
modernista del nuovo, ma piuttosto come tanti negozi riempiti di attrezzi da utilizzare, di “stock” di dati da
manipolare, da riorganizzare e rimettere in scena.”

On Saturday 25th June Artericambi gallery will be showing Hektor Mamet's project Production square.
What the artist calls a genuine postproduction process, in the sense of the term used by Nicolas
Bourriaud in Postproduction (2002)1, domestic objects have been separated from their function,
changed, or reconstructed with unsuitable materials; the spectator is therefore engaged in questioning
our perception of reality.
The "products" on show are accompanied by a catalogue published with the help of the Swiss Institute in
Rome where Hektor Mamet is resident/member from September 2010 to July 2011.
This catalogue, published in the form of an instructions book, will back up the drawings of each work –
which the artist has created as though they were "items" for sale in department stores - with texts taken
from other manuals; these, without giving the viewer any further useful information for interpretation,
will actually delete the very meaning of each work.
Together with Production square, we will also be presenting a video and series of photos titled Future
Buildings (2009) which were realized with the involvement of students in architecture at the École
Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Malaquais whom the artist asked to execute a stand on their
hands.
Hektor Mamet is a Swiss artist, born in 1983. He studied an MA degree at the Chelsea College of Art
and Design in London; he also studied in Paris in the Programme de recherche "La Seine" at (E.N.S.B.A.).

"Present-day artists have evolved in a universe of products for sale, of preexisting forms, of meanings
already conveyed, and of buildings already constructed by their predecessors. They no longer consider
the field of art as a museum containing works that must be quoted or "surpassed", despite the modernist
ideology of the new, but rather they consider them as so many stores filled with tools to be used, with a
"stock" of data to be manipulated, reorganized, and put onstage".
