In mostra si presentano opere espresse nella forza della natura o nel trascorrere degli eventi: talvolta sono documenti o corrispondenze con oggetti fisici, talvolta sono invece incarnazione di realtà, o irrealtà, immanenti.

Sabato 17 ottobre alle ore 18.30 la Galleria Mazzoli presenta "The Morning I Killed a Fly". Cinque artisti provenienti da Ecuador, Libano, Sudafrica, Giappone e Italia espongono opere d'arte realizzate specificamente per il progetto o ridisegnate per gli spazi della galleria. Shigeo Arikawa, Christian Fogarolli, Jared Ginsburg, Stéphanie Saadé e Oscar Santillan si confrontano con il verso del poeta americano Michael Dickman citato in apertura: "Come siamo nati / Creati per osservare tutto ciò che non abbiamo creato."
Gli artisti hanno sottratto o documentato campioni del mondo naturale, attingendo da ciò che l'uomo non ha creato, incluso se stesso. In mostra si presentano opere espresse nella forza della natura o nel trascorrere degli eventi: talvolta sono documenti o corrispondenze con oggetti fisici, talvolta sono invece incarnazione di realtà, o irrealtà, immanenti.
Per realizzare i lavori sono stati utilizzati raffinati strumenti di misurazione del peso o sapienti tecniche per la conservazione della memoria. E sebbene potremmo dubitare dei marchingegni impiegati, dovremmo comunque considerare la relazione con queste opere d'arte: "We use our knowledge and experiences (...) to understand them and we use our imagination to see them / Utilizziamo le nostre conoscenze ed esperienze per capirle e la nostra immaginazione per vederle" (Jason Dodge).

In occasione della mostra sarà pubblicato un catalogo bilingue, con una selezione di poesie di Michael Dickman, testi relativi alle singole opere e un saggio di Chiara Ianeselli.

On October 17th at 6.30 pm Galleria Mazzoli is honoured to present "The Morning I Killed a Fly". Five artists from Ecuador, Lebanon, South Africa, Japan and Italy show works created specifically for the project or redesigned for the gallery space. Shigeo Arikawa, Christian Fogarolli, Jared Ginsburg, Stéphanie Saadé and Oscar Santillan consider the verses of the American poet Michael Dickman quoted above: "How we're born / Made up to look at everything we did not make."
Artists have stolen or documented samples of the natural world, drawing from what mankind has not created, including itself. On show there are works of art expressed in the body of nature or in the non-form of the passage of time: sometimes they take the shape of documents or correspondence with physical objects, sometimes they are incarnations of the non created.
In order to study what humans have never made, the artists used sophisticated instruments for measuring weight or expert techniques for the preservation of memory. And although we may have doubts about the devices employed, we should still consider our relationship to these works of art: "We use our knowledge and experiences (...) to understand them and we use our imagination to see them" (Jason Dodge).

On the occasion of the exhibition, a bilingual catalogue will be published with a selection of poems by Michael Dickman, texts on individual works and an essay by Chiara Ianeselli.
