Comunicato stampa

Press release

The Box Collective is a group of international artists, based in New York, that create visceral performance work. “We challenge ourselves to create theater that arises from a question and a need to know, “says founder and co- artistic director Andrea Goldman. The Box premieres their newest work “The Stadt Elegies” at the Galleria Battaglia on July 8th during the Milan Expo 2015. They will also be touring the piece throughout Italy in July and then performing in Berlin and Munich in August.

“We have an amazing partnership and the strength of this ensemble is incredible,” says Sara Fay George, who originally conceived the piece. The collective has assembled a team of Artists from across the globe and varying artistic mediums. The Director of the piece, Monika Gossmann, hails from Moscow Art Theater and has directed pieces in Berlin and New York City. The ensemble is composed of Andrea Goldman, Sara Fay George, Esther Sophia Artner and Rob Shilling as actors, celebrated Spanish composer Dani Campos, projection by South African visual artist, Claudia Maneka Maharaj and Julie Deffet, our Belgian Cinematographer.

Composed from the writings of Rainer Maria Rilke, “The Stadt Elegies” asks the question: how does the individual thrive in a cityscape and how is the city a reflection of his inner landscape? Utilizing his words, choreographed movement and originally composed music, we follow a story that penetrates Rilke`s life, work and evolution as an artist and an individual.

The evening’s hostess is Frederike A. Garré, founder and President of the luxury travel company, Private Collection Traveling.
