2013 marks the return of Republic of Lebanon to Venice Biennale. This coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic. The commissioner of the pavilion, APEAL - Association for the Promotion and Exhibition of the Arts in Lebanon, and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, has appointed the co-founders of Art Reoriented Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath as curators.Rita Nammour, president of APEAL, said: «In a historically pivotal moment of transition, Lebanon asserts its leading cultural position as a voice from the region in the global arts community and we are a proud supporter of the pavilion». Curators Bardaouil and Fellrath point out that «Lebanon is a nation that has played a pioneering role as a centuries-old centre of artistic production in the region and it is an honor to continue this tradition in Venice».
