Loredana Longo – Fake

Setacciando il suo tempo, nelle sue parti liminali vicine al paradosso e alle sue negazioni, Longo concepisce una grande installazione site-specific nella quale ricostruisce, in larga scala, la parola Fake con due variazioni cromatiche di Hedera helix, posizionandola su una grande parete vegetale, nell’antro del cortile interno della galleria Francesco Pantaleone di Palermo.

IT__Loredana Longo è portatrice sana di un approccio all’arte che non solo prende atto del presente, ma lo interpella con costanza, spesso rinunciando totalmente a forme narrative di analisi, ed optando piuttosto verso una sintesi di senso che trova forma nella scrittura di una singola frase o di una parola chiarificatrice. Setacciando il suo tempo, nelle sue parti liminali vicine al paradosso e alle sue negazioni, Longo concepisce una grande installazione site-specific nella quale ricostruisce, in larga scala, la parola Fake con due variazioni cromatiche di Hedera helix, posizionandola su una grande parete vegetale, nell’antro del cortile interno della galleria Francesco Pantaleone di Palermo. In collaborazione con l’architetto paesaggista Alfio Sciacca, l’artista ha elaborato questa grande architettura di brandelli di natura, da cui si è generata una delle sue riflessioni propedeutiche alla nascita di questo nuovo lavoro. «Spesso siamo propensi a pensare che le uniche cose “vere” siano legate alla natura, perché reale e spontanea; giustifichiamo la natura anche quando ci investe con i suoi cicloni, temporali, terremoti, eruzioni, solo per il fatto che la natura c’era prima di noi, prima della presenza degli esseri umani, prima che noi la trasformassimo, come se noi fossimo degli alieni rispetto ad essa, come se non ne facessimo parte», rammenta Longo e, conscia della consueta evoluzione delle piante installate nella sua opera, prevede che, a distanza di alcune settimane, la vegetazione crescerà e la scritta Fake non sarà più perfettamente individuabile.
A rivelare la sua presenza, a quel punto ormai sorpassata, ci sarà un neon, posizionato sin dal principio ai piedi di Fake a sottolineare la parola stessa.

EN__When investigating the arts, Loredana Longo not only reviews the present time but she questions it constantly, often renouncing completely to the narrative forms of analysis, and opting instead for a synthesis of meaning that finds its expression in a single sentence or clarifying word. By examining her time - through its sections that border the paradox and its opposites - Longo designed a great, site‑specific installation in which she re-created, on a large scale, the word "Fake" by the use of two different kinds of Hedera helix, and placed it on a big plant wall in the inner courtyard of Francesco Pantaleone Arts Gallery in Palermo, Sicily. Collaborating with landscape architect Alfio Sciacca, the artist made this big architectural work out of fragments of nature, which originated one of her considerations preparatory to the development of this new project. «We are often inclined to believe that only the things connected with Nature can be considered as “true”, because Nature is real and spontaneous; we forgive Nature even when we are hit by typhoons, storms, earthquakes, and eruptions, just because Nature exists before us, prior to human presence detection, before we intervened on it and transformed it, as if we were aliens, as if we were not part of it», Longo recalls and, aware of the natural development of the plants used for her installation, she foresees that, in few weeks, the vegetation will grow and the word Fake will no more be clearly readable.
At that point, when not visible anymore, its presence will be revealed by a neon light that was placed since the very beginning at the foot of the word Fake with the aim of highlighting the word.
