L’opera di Rosy Rox è caratterizzata dall’utilizzo del proprio corpo per poi estendersi ai simboli e alle metafore ad esso legati. Concentrandosi su tematiche ascrivibili all’identità femminile, l’artista restituisce un universo frammentato, sospeso tra ironia e seduzione, lussuria e innocenza, aggressività e seduzione.
Il vestito da elemento accessorio è divenuto, sotto il profilo psicologico e simbolico, elemento primario in grado di determinare strutture sociali e comportamenti individuali. La metafora del vestito attraversa tutta la modernità, assurge ad emblema di uno scarto, di una distanza tra essere e apparire che bisogna necessariamente ridurre. Vestito come mera apparenza esteriore che rappresenta tutto ciò che appare, mero involucro del corpo che cela sotto di sé la pelle, essa stessa involucro finale.
Opportunamente Mario Perniola ribalta un dualismo fondante il pensiero occidentale, quello tra anima e corpo, troppo simili per costituire veramente un’opposizione, e al tempo stesso si pronuncia a favore di una nuova opposizione tra vita e veste, che finalmente permette di «cogliere
il corpo nella sua esternità indumentale, nel suo essenziale essere cosa», dove «l’esperienza del vestito come corpo si prolunga, si estende e si radicalizza in quella del corpo come vestito». Sono questi gli spunti da cui parte la conturbante Rosy Rox per la performance che presenterà, mercoledì 18.00, negli spazi del Madre. Chi vivrà vedrà…

L'artista ha recentemente terminato un progetto di Arte Pubblica per la riqualificazione del Comune di Portici (Napoli), ed è stata recentemente selezionata per il premio d'arte della fondazione VAF, Francoforte sul Meno (Germania).

The work of Rosy Rox is characterized by the use of her body and the symbols and metaphors related to it. Focusing on issues referred to female identity, the artist gives back a fragmented universe, suspended between irony and seduction, lust and innocence, aggression and seduction.
The dress (la Robe) as accessory has become, with regard to psychology and symbolism, a primary element able to determine social structures and individual behavior. Throughout modernity, the metaphor of the dress becomes an emblem of a gap between being and appearing which must
necessarily be reduced. The dress, as a mere outward appearance, represents all that appears, a mere shell of the body hidden under its skin, itself enclosed in the final “wrapping” of the skin.
Mario Perniola appropriately overturns a fundamental dualism of western thinking, the one between body and soul (which are too similar to be truly opposed) while at the same time speaks up for a new opposition between life and clothes. This finally allows us to “catch the body in its exteriority as a dress and in its interiority as something”, wherein “the experience of the dress as a body continues, extends and intensifies itself in the experience of the body as a dress.” The perturbing Rosy Rox starts from these ideas for the performance that will take place on Wednesday 18 of January at 6 pm at Madre Museum.
