Milan, Italy. After last year’s pilot projects—the ceramics residency at the Museo Carlo Zauli in Faenza, which featured internationally renowned artists Delcy Morelos and Namsal Siedlecki, and the hybrid agricultural development project with the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA Tamale) in Ghana, founded by artist Ibrahim Mahama—T.NUA Collective has continued its international activity by developing two annual programs between Italy and Nepal. This year, the collaborative projects and residencies explored themes related to vernacular architecture, fashion, craftsmanship, and collective spaces, continuing to investigate the boundary between art and other disciplines, as well as the evolving role of the artist and artistic infrastructures as tools for connection.
The invitation-only opening on June 9th will feature the Vitelli capsule collection, created by founder and creative director Mauro Simionato using fabrics developed in collaboration with the Nepal Knotcraft Centre and Rimaglio, as well as one of the two itinerant architectural sculptures titled “The Travelling Chautaris” part of a collaborative project carried out with Siddhartha Arts Foundation (SAF), the Adobe and Bamboo Research Institute (ABARI), and Nepali artist Sneha Shrestha. The second architectural sculpture developed during the project is currently travelling across Nepal, moving between museums and various regions of the country, where it will be activated through public programs before arriving in Italy in 2027/2028.
T.NUA is a sculptural initiative conceived by artists Tao Kulczycki and Ornaghi & Prestinari, with advisor Lindsay Aveilhé. It is a self-managed and self-funded project, with in-house curatorial direction and annual programming. The initiative explores the concept of social sculpture, blurring the boundaries between art, life, and participation, and creating international collaborative projects through various activities:
T.NUA Collaboration Program: hybrid projects combining socially engaged artistic practices and interdisciplinary research.
T.NUA Craftsmanship Program: residencies dedicated to enhancing traditional craftsmanship through dialogue between contemporary creatives and ancient knowledge.
T.NUA Magazine: an independent editorial project that collects and explores the themes addressed throughout T.NUA’s activities.
Exhibitions: public presentations of the annual projects.
